Before founding Mekkelek, George acquired extensive experience as a machinist with various European firms. His background in precision machining, working with diverse materials and advanced machinery, developed his advanced measurement techniques and a deep understanding of tolerances, essential for high-quality production. Specializing in reading and interpreting complex technical drawings and blueprints, George demonstrated strong problem-solving skills and the ability to optimize manufacturing processes for enhanced efficiency, skills that now significantly benefit his cabinetry business.
Personal Interests
In his free time, George delves into various historical styles such as Art Deco, Victorian, and Shaker, drawing inspiration for his work. When visiting museums, he likes to explore furniture collections and often, he utilizes online resources to access a vast array of historical furniture images and information.
Dedicated to craftsmanship revival, George likes to hone his skills with traditional hand tools and master historical joinery methods such as dovetails, mortise and tenon, and lap joints. He enjoys carving and inlay techniques to add intricate details to his pieces. By blending old and new, George creates a unique and timeless aesthetic, incorporating modern functionalities like storage solutions, lighting, and technology into historically inspired designs. This approach allows him to offer personalized options to clients, enabling them to choose elements from different historical periods to create bespoke pieces.
